Originally the post ask members their impressions. I have a feeling that there weren't many responses so a note was posted on Escapees that said there is a question over on RV.Net.
Had the question been posted in the Full-Time section, it would have been answered quickly. I never usually read the RV Lifestyle section because the topics deal mainly with RVing weekends/vacations, not full-time. But I digress. Essentially people came over to talk about what they liked about Escapees, someone made what could be called 'unkind' remarks and the battle was on in both forums. The reason - while we may disagree 'in family' (and believe me, we do have some good disagreements about how some things are run) when someone from the outside starts attacking, I believe it is only natural that you come to the defense of your 'family' or organization. And those who wanted to start a zinger did just that. So we now have things stirred up on two forums - good job. But we will all survive.
BTW - I have almost given up reading RV.NET because it is down or so slow so often it is almost not worth it anymore.

I can often play an entire game of hearts while waiting for the screen to appear or change.

Obviously it doesn't work for everyone. But for anyone contemplating full-timing, I will continue suggesting that they join and get involved with the current year "Graduating Class" - - and there is certainly no support like that here on RV.NET.

Hmmm, I have to disagree. I have received more support through RV.net than I could have ever hoped for. I'm happy saving our $60 (and how much for the Mail service?).
We are full-timers and on a very strict budget. Too young for SS or a pension. Working 40+ hour weeks with little time for a social life ...maybe in 15 or 20 years.
Just my humble opinion

Quite true Jeff. To be honest, there are also a few here who are less than helpful. But many of those are recognizable from... ummm.. other boards. There are just FAR more great folks here on rv.net than anywhere else (even including some of the "mods"- don't get upset DOK, just teasing a little ).
Also remember it is OK to be critical of rv.net, GoodSams, and others who actually PAY to keep this site up and running.
Honest opinions about other companies... may get you into hot water.

We have thought about Escapee membership from time-to-time, but we are not the touchy feely types, nor do we go to any Rallys/Samborees etc. I guess what I've read so far has pointed me away from membership. We are loners and like only to say hi to the RV neighbors and do our own thing. It's been nice reading and informative. The best to all the Escapees.

My thoughts:
Escapees -- like any other organization has a lot of different types of members. In fact, Escapees members are no different than many other aspects of society. We have funny members, we have intelligent members, we have members who brag, we have members who are shy, we have members who are old and members who are young, we have members who are bigoted and we have members who are not. In short, we are a small slice of the American people.
I joined Escapees because I felt it was important to provide some financial payment in return for all of the honest , thoughtful, thorough and useful information I received from the forum.
There is no one-size-fits-all organization anywhere. Find what you like and use it.
