I don't know. Saying pump prices may have peaked is the same as saying pump prices may not have peaked.

I'll believe it when I pay for it in person !!
It will only take a little bit of saber rattling to stir the prices up again.

The speculators are doing everything possible to keep it high. Using less is the surest way of making it come down.

That's exactly right. The only thing that will bring prices down, and keep them down for a while, is to have something occur where these speculators lose their collective shirts! That may slow down the frantic buying of futures that's causing the gas prices to rise so dramatically. In the meantime, I'm planning my winter trip gas budget at $5 per gallon, and I hope that's enough.
(I'm also fantasizing about seeing speculators standing on the corner selling apples for a nickle a piece, and trying to stay warm around a burning trash barrel, but that's another story. )

I'm with you, MichDoc, and I hope the speculators loose their pants too. Let 'em live on the streets.

But if they lose their shirts and pant they go on public assistance and we still pay them. That sucks!

Could someone please explain to me how we can use less. If you live 20 miles from your work, it's still 20 miles. If you travel in your work, you still travel. If you own an airline, you still need fuel to operate. If you use trucking in your business, you still need trucks. If you want food, it still has to be brought to your town. If you even sell drugs, you still have to drive to get them. I think you see where this is going. The only way to save is to quit using the RV which is using all the fuel. Now who wants to do that? I don't. So where can we use less fuel and make the prices come down? Thirty years ago we knew this could happen and we just sat by and watched. Now we complain and still do nothing. I say, park the RV's for two months and do not use them. I'll be the first to park mine. Think that will help to bring the prices down???? You're right, it won't it'll only hurt the RV industry. That may be what it takes to get the prices of equipment and campgroungs down to a level where you do not have to have two jobs in order to enjoy RV'ing. The price of fuel will stay up as long as our government uses millions of gallons a day in military equipment. I know, someone has to take care of the bad guys but in doing so we are killing our own nation little by little.

Well, I don't know how we use less. Maybe carpool, maybe buy a motorcycle, or take the bus, quit using our RV's, or any other gimmick that works. But I'll tell you this, if we continue to buy at the going rate, it's going to keep going up. I think the last thing we want to say is "Go ahead and raise those prices. You're not going to scare me away from RVing". Because the answer we'll get will be "Well, okay then. How does $6 a gallon work for ya?". As much as we hate to see drilling rigs in the forests, we may have to live with that.....or the alternative is seeing them in the desert and paying what the Arabs decide to charge us. I guess that if any of us had "THE ANSWER", none of us would be paying $4 per gallon like we are.
