If your making an overnight stop and don't plan on busting out all your equipment and setting up camp, do you unhitch? Are there any dangers in NOT unhitching just for the night?

We plan on coming in late and leaving early and just want to crawl in bed....Thats it. Then in the morning, close the door to the camper and hop in the truck and leave.

I just want to make sure I'm not forgetting something obvious.

Thanks
Flan

Not a problem, we do it all the time. As long as your setup fits in the site without blocking the road, you will be fine.

We have often left the rig hitched and ready to go for a quick stop-over. I do put down the power tongue jack to relieve some of the tongue weight from the truck and I crank out the stabilizers and deploy the slides.

Actually a couple of times we didn't even do that much..just parked, crawled into bed and called it a day.

When I had my TT I would leave it hitched. I'd do two things. 1. Put down the tongue jack to somewhat level trailer so I wouldn't have to sleep with me feet above my head. 2) Unplug the TT from the TV as not to drain the TV battery incase something went wrong with the electrical system in the TT overnight.

Yup! When I had my TT it got to the point with me, that one or two days stopping I left it hooked up. I found it to be a real PITA to unhook every time. Hook up to shore power and unhook from TV. That's it!

Just ask for the pull through sites. Longer, bigger, usually nicer sites too and a breeze to leave when it's time to move on.

Ahh. Thanks for the suggestions. I would have forgot to pull the plug from the TV. I'm not sure what to do about the power tongue jack though. We would pull out around 5am and that thing sounds like a screamin banshee when you hit the lift button. So I don't want to wake anyone up at 5am

Do a search on "overnite" there was a post on that several days ago and it got several good replies. One thing we do when we do not unhitch is pull the cord to the TV. That assures the TV will start in the morning if we use too much power in the trailer.

Don't forget to plug the trailer back to the truck (personally i let mine connected). Also don't forget to unhook the electric and water. For me its easy to forget the above mentioned things because camping like this isn't my routine, i get confused when my system gets screwed up.

Thats True. My Brake controller will flash red at me If I dont plug it in. LOL! But I could see pulling out at 5am not fully awake and forgetting something. I better drink lots of Camp Coffee before pulling out.
