We are preparing and organizing to go full time on the road, one of our many technology challenges will be how to receive and transmit Fax's. I would appreciate any advice or experience you can share on this.
I have looked at the internet based e-fax, the problem there (at least for me) is to stay HIPPA compliant I need to bump up to their "Secure" Service and those prices run from $100/month and up. Does anyone out there have an affordable solution?
If this was a perfect world it would be great if I could connect and transmit Fax's though my cell phone. I can't see how that's possible.
Thanks in advance for sharing your thoughts.

Go to a store where there's a FAX machine.
IMHO Fax should be a dead or dying art. With scanners, who needs fax?

Faxing is so stone age, gave it up years ago for business. Now it's all scanning and emails and that equals no paper and better filing.

Most parks accept and send faxes for you. Many, many local stores do the same. Many many, gas stations do it. All office supply houses do it. Office Depot, etc.
You will be surprised how many people and business still send and recieve faxes, as I have often found every real estate office does, banks do it, etc. Any UPS stores do as most mail box stores do.
Have no fear, there are plenty of places to send and recieve faxes.

yup to all of the above.
I picked up a little 'all-in-one' printer, scanner copier for the MH.
Been traveling with it for a couple of years and it does it all.
If you really must have a fax.....get a web site dot com address.
I got a dot com address from Godaddy.com for 9.99 a year.
Gives me my own website for sharing pixs etc and they have a 'really cheap' add-on for faxes. You can pick your plan based on how many faxes you think you will send per month.
The lowest cost plan has an ample number of faxes you need to send in a month...that is unless you own a fortune 500 company you are running out of your MH.
AND BTW: You can have faxes sent thru a cell phone, 1/2 of my documents in the ninth hour of closing on my house was sent to my realtor's cell phone.

I have a personal 1-800 number that offers a huge variety of services including fax. It has voice mail and email too. The service is completely voice activated as well, but I prefer to use my computer as I don't have enough grey matter to remember all the different commands and numbers to push for keypad shortcuts. So if you have more capacity to remember stuff than I do, you can tell it what to do through your cell phone as you travel. Because it is 1-800, it is a free call for you or anyone who faxes or calls you.
People can send faxes to the number and I can retrieve and print anywhere I have an internet connection.
I bring up the service on my computer where I can view all settings, change what I want, forward calls, review and print faxes etc.
It costs me about $50. a month. I am quite sure there is a "lite" version of these types of services that offer a trimmed down basic service without all the extras.
I can send a fax from this number, but it has to be a document already on my computer or a fax that I get in electronic format. There is likely a way you could send a paper fax to your own number from somewhere and then forward it to the recipient from the 800 number, to avoid the toll charges. Perhaps carry a small fax machine with you and have it rigged to send via the cell phone or internet connection. Or carry a scanner and then you just save it on the computer to send in electronic format. I think this would be easier.
This may be an option for you.

I use RapidFax.com They provide me with a toll-free fax number that is my own personal number for $10 per month and its very rare that I go over the minimum number of faxes that is included for that base price. I don't get a lot of faxes but I don't think anyone could be in business dealing with traditional business customers and NOT have a fax number. I don't send nearly as many faxes as I receive but I have occasion to do both more than once per week.
