I have reservations to Pismo for the 4th. I am about to cancel my trip due to the cost of fuel. It is so frustrating

Sure sorry to hear that! Is Pismo a long trip?

I'm lucky that we were only planning to go about an hour away anyway, so the fuel cost won't make a lot of difference for us.

Seems more and more people are camping closer and closer to home. Could be an option for you.

I am a seasonal so I camp 75 miles away everyweekend. I am starting to see less and less out of state plates.

I'm heading out to Marysvale Utah, 587 miles one way. I'll take less long trips than before, more trips local, but I'm not giving in yet. I need the getaway time.

We're either heading to Mammoth Lakes, CA or Kings Camground near Tropic Reservoir, Utah. I started planning our summer trip last year and foresaw diesel at $6.00/gal. Budgeted for it and now we're set to go the weekend before the 4th.

Life is too short, time with my kids is too short. Don't care what it costs. Still cheaper then a weekend at Disneyland.

No way would we cancel our trip, planned for the fall. Come what may, we're going to be on the road!

Your trip probably will olny cost you less than an extra $100 over what it would've cost when you made the reservation. If you stay home you'll probably regret it.

I'm canceling my summer trips. first due to the high cost of fuel and second because my wife is a realtor and business is slow. I needed to choose between my summer and winter activities. I would rather camp in the desert come winter time. There is nothing that compares to family and friends in the desert. My Seadoos will be dormant this year.

Have fun everyone.

We're doing shorter trips, closer to home. Still planning to go to Georgia (2 hours away) for the 4th.
