Hello All-
Wife and I are planning to take a trip this summer to Niagara Falls / Toronto / Ottawa / Montreal / Quebec. Starting in CT, visiting friends in upstate NY, up into Canada, and back down through VT. We will also be stopping in on friends we have not seen in over 10 years just outside Toronto. Took a similar trip with family when growing up.
Looking for recommendations on places to stay, things to do, special diversions to consider, and any other points of interest we should be aware of.
We are planning around 2 - 2 1/2 weeks. Able to make it longer if needed.
We are traveling in a smaller pop-up truck camper. Electric and water not necessarily needed.
Thanks in advance for your ideas and information.

Montreal has lots of FREE festivals all summer. There are 4 CG's in St Phillipe de La Prairie about 20 miles from Montreal. If you ride bikes there are excellent bike paths everywhere here and it is fun and easy to ride into Montreal.
Quebec is celebrating it's 400th anniversary and there are many events in Quebec City as well. Also great bike paths.

Thank you for the feedback. Will search the web for information on the festivals in Montreal. Sounds like it may be a great time to visit Quebec. Our friends are in North York if that helps with anything. Not sure if they are in a house or apartment so we may need to find a place to stay.
Any additional information appreciated. Any advice on Niagara Falls area.
Thanks again! This is the best place for first-hand information.

I would take highway 409 - a fairly expensive toll road - around north of Toronto up to Highway 7 as a good route to Ottawa. That bypasses the Highway 401 parking lot. Rush hour on the 401 is from 5 am to 10 pm, and the driving is awful, so I personally pay the toll and have a far easier ride of it. Another nice way to get from Toronto to Ottawa is to head north, overnight in Algonquin park, and then head east to Ottawa. Very pleasant route, but two days rather than one.
I live in Dundas, near Hamilton. Wave as you go by!

In Niagara Falls we would recommend the KOA on the Canadian side. Bus leaves from the front entrance to all the down town sites. A trip to Niagara on The Lake is also a great trip and the wine tastings at the over 60 local wineries is also fun.
In Toronto there is a KOA in Cookstown that is not that far north.
Ottawa the nation's capital is also worth a visit with all its museums and the parliament buildings and the Governor General's home.

When we went to Niagra Falls last Sept, we stayed near Youngstown at campground called Four Mile Creek State Park (I think I got the name right). Loved it. Quiet & beautiful. Right on Lake Ontario...you can see Toronto. Of course, it's a state park which doesn't suit everyone and it's a short drive to the Falls.
There was a great local place located on the waterfront in Youngstown for breakfast (don't remember name, but pretty sure you can't miss it)
Also, aside from the usual Niagra attractions, we enjoyed Power Vista.

We just got back yesterday from Niagra.. we spent three nights at four mile creek state park... very beautiful place to camp,, the only thing is no water on every site.. we had to fill up the potable tank..park is located about 12 or so miles from the falls but the moses parkway goes right from the entrance to the campground to the falls... go catch the fireworks on friday and sunday nights over the falls worth the trip
