Because I just know that I am going to be beat about the head and shoulders for asking, but here goes! I realize that it would not be practical at all for boondocking, but have any of you considered installing a standard house type toilet in your fiver? Was wondering if , with today's technology, one with low water requirements might be possible. OUCH!, that first one hurt!

Ok, I'll bite. Why do that? More weight and takes up valuable space.

I would think that if you have enough space in your toilet room, then you'd be able to do it. Residential toilet drains are 12" OC from the wall, which just happens to be what rv toilets are.

Just a shot in the dark here...(pun intended)
I suspect a normal flush uses not much more than a quart or two compared to the 1.6 gallons of a low-flow toilet. I've not measured that quart figure, but I suspect it's close. I guess if you're only hooked to sewer and water it might be ok but you'd potentially have the "slosh" factor when on the road unless you drain both the bowl and tank.

RV stores do sell heavier china toilets.. not sure if they have a water tank. A household unit would definitely have to be drained before travelling. Not only the slosh but the higher center of gravity factor.

I wouldn't do it.

Now what would REALLY be nice is to bypass the black tank and go strait to the sewer hookup with that kind of bowl. No stink, no poop pyramids, no emptying, no chemicals.

Home toilets use a water seal, not a flush valve. An American Standard would be a slosh o matic going mobile with a rear tank.

Just wait and soon the government will have RV toilets in your house to save water.
Some day those 6 to 8 gallon use toilets will be collector items.

2 old hit it on the head, you will need to have black tank connected all the time and have a hook up for enough water to use the thing. more trouble than it's worth to install, I wouldn't do it either.

We will start beating you shortly, but for now, we can discuss this....
ARE YOU CRAZY!! Oops, sorry.

Actually, there are household toilets that have a pressure tank inside the regular fill area...so that would take care of the "slosh effect", but it would still take up a lot of space.

If you were going to just park the 5er, then you might consider it, but I don't really see why. I've been tempted to raise my toilet...to make it more comfortable for my tall frame, but why bother with a household unit....they don't have all the fun features of these units....I like having a rinse hose!!

Have fun, and hope you didn't bruise to badly!!
