I just went in for a brain Magnetic Resonance Imaging yesterday after making a couple of complaints to my physician about constant headaches. I guess I am waiting to hear back from him. The MRI can diagnose a lot of stuff . Brain and Spine MRI's are the most common. There are so many things that can be diagnosed I figure something will be wrong. For those of you that have had it did the test find nothing or maybe most likely a non-cancerous tumor?

Headaches can be caused by a lot of things, he's only eliminating several of the causes.

It could even be a dental thing, miss fit dentures, bad bite, as you age things change, like vision (could be your eyes). Some changes are good, some not so good. Relax have a cup of coffee. Bill (note I'm not a nurse my wife is).

Well Polishnurse my dentist thinks its a wisdom tooth and he thinks of course I should have had it pulled first. I have had two other teeth on the same side as the wisdom tooth pulled and the headaches got worst. The wisdom tooth does have to go so maybe I should have had it taken out before the MRI. Yeah they do like to eliminate a lot of causes. I had some blood tests and a heart test which really probably wasnt necessary. The blood tests were normal but getting near diabetic? I am pretty sure the tooth is going to go away. My wife thinks all the sugar I have eaten in my life has finally caught up to me-lol and I need to change my diet.

I had BAD head aches for 2 solid years, Doctor ran all kind of tests, MRI etc,
nothing showed up. Went to Yuma for the winter and the Neighbor next door said
she would check to see if my skull was aligned right as she was a Chiropractor.
Sure enough she said "the top of your scull is out of aliment" she worked on me for 15 min or so twice, head ache went away !! I was thank full for her expertise ! Before she started I was rather skeptical but I had tried nearly every thing else. Plus she would not let me pay her. She said "Oh no, we are neighbors" I took her and her DH to steak dinner later

My MRI and CT scans found a tumor in a kidney. One less kidney now.
Let the doctors do their thing but your body is telling you something. Are you in good shape? Drink coffee? Drink alcohol? Walk two miles per day? Smoke? Excercise cures a multitude of problems; relieves stress, improves circulation, lowers blood pressure.

You might still have headaches after all this but you will feel and look better!

I guess that explains a lot!

Sorry, Keith! I can't pass up something like that.

Seriously, as an RN, I can tell you that most brain MRI's are negative. They are done to rule out pathology, not because it is necessarily suspected. Let us know how it comes out, OK?

I had daily headaches for close to a year....the doctor did a number of tests including an MRI....nothing was found. At the time I was under a lot of stress at work....once that resolved my headaches resolved as well. Several years, prior I developed a serious case of GERD, again I was under a lot of pressure at work... once that resolved the GERD went away. I would have never imagined that stress could do this, but am at a loss to figure anything else.

I had disabling headaches for over six years....had three MRI's and the head and spine were reported as "unremarkable"..... Switched health plan (doctors) and another MRI was ordered. The MRI as viewed by this doctor showed severe bone spurs in C6-C7 and two extermely narrowed disks. Doctor couldn't understand how these were missed by other doctors. Surgery...removed 8 bone spurs and fused vertebrae....headaches gone for over a year...no pain.

I had an MRI for headaches as well, thankfully all is OK up there, cost me $1000 as I didn't have insurance. Doctor identified I have anxiety, I take medicine for that, not as many headaches anymore.
