My MRI showed a big aneurysm AND a Chiari Malformation (where the opening at base of the skull is too narrow and my brain was bulging out the bottom). Two separate brain surgeries, headaches gone.

Well, one diagnosis like yours is worth a hundred negative results. Good for you, dodging a couple of bullets like that! You were very, very lucky.

I've had regular MRI's. Didn't turn up much beyond my deviated septum (not a problem). Completely missed the Ehlers-Danlos that keeps my neck all jacked up. (Can cause Chiari malformations, but the surgery doesn't work well when EDS is in play. Your brain'll just keep trying to fall into your spine anyway because connective tissue doesn't form properly - "De skullbone connected to de....whoops!".)
Functional MRI's were a revelation, though. You can actually SEE the damage the poisoning caused. So that was well worth it. The headaches and all are not cured, but are treated.
Make sure you have them make a DVD for you! Weirdest thing in the world, sitting there looking at your own brains...

I had a brain MRI done and was in there well over an hour. But mine was not for headaches, it was for severe Respiratory problems. They were looking for some kind of lesion.
I don't get any real headaches, but my best friend growing did. It was awful. He would have to go to bed, turn out the lights, etc. trying to get relief. Even as a 16 year old I KNEW he was hurting and felt bad for him.
Funny, I hadn't thought about him for years. We lost contact while I was in the service and he moved out of state. His younger sister had bad headaches too. That seems odd as I look back on it.
Best of luck, I don't have an answer for headaches, other than Oxycodone and frankly, that might not help. I hope all is well.

Well my MRI came back negative-I guess thats the good news. The bad news is that the headache is still there of course. The next step is to find a dentist who will extract my "problem" wisdom tooth. My dentist thought it was a little beyond his skills. I will have to post back up after a month or so after the tooth is gone.
