Just received a brand new Linksys Router for my Sierra Wireless AC875 wireless broadband card. Purchased from the 3G store at a very good price. The card works perfectly in my Dell laptop on 3G, HSDPA service. When I insert the card into the router it will not connect. All lights on the card indicate power, cellphone signal, etc. It just won't connect. I have upgraded the firmware, etc. on both pieces of equipment. Several hours on the phone with a foreign speaking accented service tech from Linksys did not help. She finally told me that the router was probably defective, which I wonder about.
My question: Does anyone have this same equipment and does it work correctly? According to 3G store most folks use the "ST" Sprint version. If you have this rig working I would like to know if you entered any special "APN" data, passwords, usernames, etc. to gain a connection. Thanks

we've tested that model router with our AC875 before.
no need to enter in any data, passwords, usernames, etc.
my guess is yours is just a defective unit. sorry about that.

Thanks Alex for the input. You did know that this is AT&T (cingular) not EVDO? I think the "ST" version is for EVDO...mine is the "AT" version, HSDPA. Let me know please if you have tried the AC875, Cingular version, in a "AT" model.
Thanks

yup. there is not an ac875 that is EVDO. only att/cingular.
we at one time were very close to selling/supporting att, so have that card around.
we also tested it in that -AT router, to make sure we could support it.
i see you talking with our tech dept now. if anyone can get it right, the guy you are talking to can. if not, then like i said, i think its a defective unit.

Good news Alex, I didn't realize you were with 3G store. I've been working with Torrey. No resolution yet and I've been messing with it all afternoon. I looked at profiles on "Watcher" program. There are two, one is automatic and the other is manual connect. The automatic profile is as follows:
Profile name: AT&T
Username: ISPDA@CINGULARGPRS.COM
Password: CINGULAR1
APN: isp.cingular
connection type: Autoconnect
PDP Type: IP
MCC/MNC: 310410
So I tried "Custom" on parameters and entered the above info. Still no good. I guess we'll have to try another unit? Thanks again.

Lynn, on the off chance that your AC875 is fairly new and you can exchange it for a different device... I'd suggest you do that, and get the Sierra 881U USBconnect USB modem.
That would allow you to use any of the superior Cradlepoint routers, like my current favorite, the Cradlepoint CTR500
The linksys is a unit i would recommend, only if its the last option... as would be the case if you are stuck with AC875 card.

Unfortunately I'm pretty much stuck....
Thanks again. I'll keep working with 3G guys for a resolution. I really want to do this as I have big plans for saving money, i.e. Vonage, cancelling DSL, etc. I want to make my $60.00 per month unlimited data plan worthwhile. I guess I could take the big leap and buy a new one off of ebay and hope to recoup the price. SIM card will transfer to most any device.....
