Greetings;
Our present coffee maker sits on top of the kitchen counter of our RV. We now wish to 'free up' that space and purchase an "under counter" type. Any readers who have installed this item - please let me know if it's a good idea? And what make is best suited to travel (secured in place)? Thanks in advance for you assitance and advice.

I think you mean under the cabinet type. We've had a Black & Decker for years. It sure is a lot easier with it under the cabinet. We have replace one so far after a number of years and nothing to it just the mount installation with four screws.

We have the exact situation as the other post - the Black and Decker is installed and has been replaced once. We did that replacement enroute on a trip. The good news, at least at that time, was the B&D was readily available.
Some of the concerns by others were that the undercounter model caused moisture problems with the bottom of the cabinet. That hasn't been our experience.

We had an under the counter model, but got rid of it.
The heat/steam from it, started to damage the finish on the cabinets.
Somewhere, on here, there is a thread, extensively discussing this problem. Do a search.

I tried to replace our old B&D with a new one, and found that the new one won't work on the inverter. I wound up repairing the old one (it wasn't as hard as I thought).
If your inverter is a true sine wave, it may not be an issue, just a heads up.

We have one that fits in the cabinet below the galley sink. We do leave the cabinets open while brewing and while it's on to avoid the steam ruining the finish on the cabinets.

As far as securing the coffee maker, my B & D stays in the bracket just fine and I take the caraffe out and wrap a towel around it and place it in a cabinet while traveling.

Well hello again;
In fact, I did mean the 'under the cabinet type' - and we are considering a "Black & Decker" - 12 cup model! FYI, if we do get that item - I'll keep a close eye on steam and moisture problems. Thanks for your input and interest.
