I would like to know from owners of these two vehicles;
Do you feel these pickups do the job and if you owned a Dodge, Chevy or Ford prior do you feel this vehicle is a better tow vehicle and why?

Now lets be honest; I know it will be tough for some people to admit they made a mistake, if that's the case. But I am genuinely interested in your comments because I am starting to look around for a near future purchase.

Thanks in advance for your input.

My son has a 08 Nissan Titan for light hauling of a utility trailer. My company has a couple of 07 Tundra's. Good trucks. Towing a conventional TT and staying well within the Trucks weight rating...either Nissan or Toyota will do the job. The Nissans, in my opinion, are a better value, roomy and comfortable cab and a great truck. The Frontier, believe it or not, is built on the same chassis now as the Titan, and has a great towing capacity by itself.

But for now I like my own Ford F250 PSD. And with the Diesel engines that the GM/Chevy-Ford-Dodges have, and the strong sturdy frames...they are the only choice for serious towing for now...still, especially fifth wheels!

Close friend has a Chevy 1500 he towed a deck boat with. After a few years, he picked up a Nissan. He likes everything about the Nissan except fuel mileage. He said neither the Nissan or Chevy were heads above the other to him.

He's had a small Nissan truck for years and his wife always drove Chevy Astro vans (which they used to tow boat) so he is pretty unbiased as far as the two mfrs go.

My Tundra does an awesome job; couldn't be happier. The only other truck I've owned is an 85 Chev. C20 Crew Cab which was a much older generation truck so any comparison would be unfair.

Well my Tundra is doing just fine....see sig.
My brother in law tows a 29' w/ a large slide and pulls it with a Titan...loves it.

All good cannot go wrong with either choice.

Had a 1 ton dually....but thats apples and oranges....

So far, I'm happy with my Titan. But, I've only towed about 300 miles. I'll have a better idea after we complete our 7000 mile trip next month. One advantage the Titan has over the Tundra, is the Crew Cab version is available with a long bed (7'-3"). When I was shopping last fall, the thing that killed the Tundra for me was the Crew Cab only had a 5'+ bed. I wanted at least 6.5'.

Both are fine 1/2 ton trucks. However, the Titan is getting a bit dated (at least styling-wise). Given how slow the sales are currently, you could probably get a great deal on a Titan.

I think either will do the job if you keep within its capability.... I had the 2006 titan, and found it to be one of the best trucks I owned...... I had the short bed, I wouldnt mind having the crew with the longer bed now, they look great.... as far as the tundra, mean looking truck......

"Do you feel these pickups do the job and if you owned a Dodge, Chevy or Ford prior do you feel this vehicle is a better tow vehicle and why?"

Back when I drove every 1/2 ton truck and SUV (2006)....the Nissan was a clear leader. It was one of a few w/ a 5-speed AT, but it also had a very strong engine (more torque, and lower in the RPM than all others).

Today it's a different story, GM is still rockin' 4-speed AT in most trucks, but 6-speeds are becoming more available. Tundra has a 6-speed....and tons of power. The 2009 Rams and F-150's look amazing if all the specs are to be believed.
