When I was a young kid, my mother had Spearmint tea in the flower garden. I happened by the old house earlier this spring, and asked if I could transplant some. Current resident refers to it as a "darned weed" and was happy to get rid of some.

Took 8 plants, with some spreading root sections, all is growing well and looking fantastic.

My questions: how tall should I let it get, should it be allowed to flower, what is the best way to harvest the tea, and the best way to store.

I look forward to all replies. Thanks for reading...........

Try this site from eHow.

The mint family is very invasive - that's probably why the current family in your childhood home calls it a "darn weed!!"

Have you ever made mint jelly? My mom used to make it when we were growing up. Yum!
