SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Another recreational vehicle dealership has announced that it is going out of business.

Nu Star RV Center said an inventory-liquidation sale starting today will run from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily through Sept. 1.

Discounted recreational vehicles include motorhomes and travel trailers. Nu Star has specialized in RVs produced by Gulf Stream Coach, of Nappanee, Ind.

Nu Star's announcement of imminent closure is the third made by an area RV dealership in the past few weeks.

Really sorry to see this one go:

As of Sept 30 I am dissolving Interior Rv Products Inc. All camper inventory has been sold. The assets of the company are currently being sold to satisfy the creditors and employees. The rising cost of materials, along with reduced sales made it impossible to continue to market Snowriver campers at current prices. The amount of time and labor that went into building one of our campers was more than any other camper built. Quality comes at a price. With volume we could exist on smaller margins. When the volume slowed, we lost profitability. We held on thru May, June, July and August, sales were just not there. Those dealers that did sell Snowriver campers during this period were being cautious and not wanting to replace these units untill spring. Unfortunately rising fuel prices, as well as poor consumer confidence in the economy has affected our entire industry. I kept the factory going at a loss until I realized it would take the sale of all assets to cover our liabilities. This is being done at the present time. This is not a bankruptcy as all creditors and employees will be paid. However the company will have no assets and current warranties can not be honored. All component manufacturers warranties are still in place. It has been difficult after 18 years to say goodbye to all my loyal employees. They did build the best camper on the market. I also have to apologize to current Snowriver owners, many of which have become personal friends.

Bob Mehrer,
President.

Holy cow. That is really really sad, and hard to believe such an awesome company can just go poof like that. We all are truly walking a tightrope in life aren't we? Good luck to Bob and his friends/staff.

Snow River closing the doors for good was a real shock to me. I figured that his company was small enough that he could hunker down and ride out the current economic conditions and gear up when things improve.

Truck campers aren't going away and it would not surprise me to see Bob building campers again one day.

Aye, we'll still be around. The $30,000+ ultra luxury unit days are probably over though .

Maybe I should change the title to "the last one standing"

Las Vegas RV dealership to close in September

(Aug. 29, 2008) -- The owner of Cal's Blue Water Marine, a boat and recreational vehicle dealer on East Russell Road and a native Las Vegan, has seen the booms and busts of the Southern Nevada economy. But he's never seen anything like this. But the simple truth is that the sales of all kinds of recreational vehicles - boats, RVs, personal watercraft and all-terrain vehicles - have cratered because of the sluggish economy.

Up here, Joe, 30K+ is the average price of a new TC from a reputable manufacturer! How about the triple slide 11' Okanagan I saw last month that's got a $50K price tag on it?

The dealer had at least two of them and I'm going to make a special trip back next year to see if they're still there.

Unless the dealers start getting hungry, I'll be keeping my Adventurer for quite a while.

What dealer did you find the Okanagen TKS126 triple slide?
