Does anyone know if there is a website that tells you what states allow firewood in from other states.
I plan on hitting Iowa, South Dakota, Wyoming, Montanna and North Dakota, on a trip next week and trying to decide to take wood with me or not.

The only reference I have seen is on the ReserveAmerica site, used for National Parks and Ca State parks, and it listed certain states where firewood wasn't allowed into the parks as cargo.

You could try the DNR websites for each state.

If you use kiln fried wood, IE construction scraps or cut offs, you should be able to transport them anywhere.

I was told by one of our State parks when I made reservations that Kentucky does not permit you to bring in firewood because of the emerald ash borer.

While driving in western Canada I drove for 30 miles and saw nothing but dead Black Spruce trees. As far as you could see into the mountains everything was dead. The Black Sprice Bettle is what killed them. After seeing this I ask myself, "Why transport firewood and take a chance on something like this?" I will not carry any firewood any more. I will buy it when I camp or not have a fire. Charcoal works just fine and has no bugs in it. Think before you transport any firewood.

It's easiest to just not bring your own firewood when traveling state to state, as they are all different. We saw "don't bring firewood" notices in SD due to not just the emerald ash borer but 2 other bugs (gypsy moth is one, and I forget the other); a CG in MN asked us about firewood the other day. We never take our own anymore, even locally, due to these rulings. Better safe than sorry.

Ditto for Wisconsin. DNR websites for each state 'will' post what you need to know.

IMHO I think we should be responsible not to carry it thru states either. You might stop in a state that bans it and not use it but it IS still in your bays. I'm at a park that was hit with emerald ash borer and it is really very sad to see all these,at one time beautiful, trees dead. I also don't carry wood anymore when traveling.
