Hello all!
I recently picked up a section of hose at Camping World (first visit there - had to buy something ). It is the flat hose (like fireman's hose) that collapses flat and rolls up when not in use. It was approved for potable water which is what caught my eye.
I have tried these style hoses at home on my hose reel, and didn't like them, mostly because of the fact that you have to unroll the whole hose in order to use it, and at home that is a pain.
However, when camping, I unroll my regular hose the whole way anyway since it is not on a mounted holder, and so I though this may be a perfect place to use this collapsible hose.
Normally I don't go for the useless gimmicks, but with a light-weight trailer with very limited outside storage, it saves me quite a bit of space and weight.
Am I going to like this? Anyone use it happily? Or did I just waste my money?
Thanks.

We have one that we use for an extention to our normal hose when the tap is far away. It works well.

We didn't like it - it must lay out flat and cannot curve at all or it kinks when in use and we found that we were rarely far enough away from the water source for it to be flat all the way. Even going up to the faucet from the ground made it kink. Also, it developed tiny leaks rather quickly. Don threw it away and he NEVER throws ANYTHING away!!!

I picked up one at Walmart as an extension hose to our normal hose, I haven't had to use it yet. Hopefully it's better than the one you got.

I use a flat hose on occasion.. They are handy, however if they spring a leak they are a ..... I won't type that word..... To fix,, Mine did and I fixed it
You have a very thin plastic "liner" inside a fabric sleeve in case you are wondering how they are built.. Nice, Handy, not the strongest hose, but they do work well

Do not pressurize the hose with water and leave it where the sun can warm it up, I've had 3 of them burst from the expansion of the hot water, and they can not be repaired. Piece of junk as far as I am concerned. Now on the other hand, the white Made in USA water hose I bought a few years ago is still going strong!

I had one for years and loved it for the same reasons you bought one. It was great till it sprang some pin hole leaks. I think I'll buy a new one.
By the way, the dog loved the little leaks.

I have one of the flat hoses and use it only for flushing the black tank. The hose seems too porous to use as a fresh water hose

Are you talking about the flat hose with a fabric covering??? If so, don't waste your $$$$$. I bought an all vinyl (white with blue stripe and blue reel)at Wally World for about $20 and it seems to be just fine. It doesn't kink or snag on everything like the fabric one did and it can be used without unrolling it completely. Best of all, Wally World will refund your $$$ if not satisfied.
