The ADKs are very seldom a problem----Chazy & L.C. ARE NOT the ADKs, and don't even begin to equal the bug-free ADKs.

In the L.C Valley, up through the St. Lawrence Valley, black flies are few & far between....daytime deer flies are worse---and they're a bit more plentiful this year......but neither is real BAD now....evening mosquitoes are a seasonal PITA!

We spent one night near Lake Placid and didn't notice any bugs at all, about 10 days ago.

And we stopped at Ft Ticonderoga and again, no bugs.

If you want to sit outside, have a fan blowing directly on you. Several small fans are better for a group than one large fan.

Badger Anti-Bug Balm. Nice stuff! Most N.Y. State Park Concession Stores carry it. Also Cracker Barrel. Badger Anti-Bug
