May I suggest US Forest Service Williwan camp at $18.00 ($9.00 seniors) as the most scenic dry camp in AK it is 4 miles from Portage on the Whitter road.
Any other suggestions?????
Please give me enough troubles, uncertainty, problems, obstacles and STRESS so that I do not become arrogant, proud, and smug in my own abilities, and enough blessings and good times that I realize that someone else is in charge of my life.

Howdy!
We second that! It is absolutely the best campground we've stayed at during our visit to Alaska even if it is dry camping.

We third it! And here it is, sorry pic does not do it justice! Giant fireplace, giant picnic table, fantastic trails(walking & bicycling), five species of Salmon in the Creek, your personal glacier. PS-its "Williwaw"

That CG was just as gorgeous 30 years ago. I am happy to see it hasn't lost it charm.

Williwa is awesome. I can offer another further down the road a spell. The Quartz Creek campground just after the Y (bear right toward Soldotna) before Cooper Landing.
Hard to get a spot on the lake, but it's beautiful there. Similar in layout (pavement, privacy) to Williwa.

Willawaw (n) is nice but the Quartz Creek CG, also Forest Service, is nicer with better views in my opinion. And we've stayed at Willawaw. Quartz Creek has sites overlooking Kenai Lake which is the headwater for the Kenai River. It's just a few miles down the Sterling Highway after you make the turn to head to Homer.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Do any of you Alaska natives (or current residents) have an opinion.
Willawaw and Quartz Creek both have sites that will handle a 40' Class A with toad.

I may be sitting on one of the best scenic dry camps right now. We're parked on a pull out on the road between the ferry terminal and Haines overlooking Lynn Canal and snow covered mountains. Just got back from catching a sockeye from shore 5 miles down the road at the Chilkoot River and am now sitting in the Rv enjoying watching the porpoise chase come salmon in the Canal.
