I just had a Dynomax "SuperTurbo" muffler/tailpipe put on my 1998 Winnie Itasca Class C. It has the 6.8L V10 w/ 275 H.P...I was wondering if anyone has any experience/input on this product?? Will it increase performance? Power? Gas mileage? Run cooler? Thanks so much. The Family Camper Dad.

I'm thinking about doing this too, how's the sound? You should get some HP out of it (probably around 15rwhp), but that's about it. It's a cheap way to get a few ponies, though!

My guess would be yes, but why not climb a hill you know and let us know how it did?

The Dynomax Super Turbo is considered the best muffler for people that don't try and use a muffler to impress others. It will significantly outflow the "sexy" mufflers like Flowmaster, Gibson, and Magnaflow but it is still quiet. It is supposed to be just a high-quality truck/performance muffler.

But, I installed them on my truck with true duals and I can't honestly say I noticed a difference other than sound. It is still quiet and sounds good though so I am happy.

A 6.8L engine at 4000 rpm and 70% VE moves approximately 336CFM, they are just air pumps. The DYNOMAX ads show the Super Turbo to flow 420CFM but do not list pipe size or model number. I do not think you will see any performance benefit because the back pressure occurs at the catalytic converter and therefore the muffler is not having the effect on back pressure that it would in a short performance exhaust. Also by the time the exhaust gets to the muffler in a motorhome it is traveling so slow that the muffler really does not have much effect on the exhaust flow.

The modern day catalytic converter has very little restriction unless it is stopped up with carbon deposits and yes people have gained power & economy from a more free flowing exhaust and some people just like the sound.

I would say both, some performance and some noise. I have used the Dynomax on a few cars/trucks and they were nice, not too loud.
I have the "large body" Magnaflow on my 6.8L. Just a little burb at idle some noise under heavy throttle. (6.8L V10s sound like formula cars at 4~5000 rpm. to me) If nothing else I lost about 70 lbs of metal compared to the OEM unit.

Mario, would you talk a little on the differences between the DM and MF? What made you choose the Magnaflow over the Dynamax this time?

I will be using a pair of long oneswith an X pipe, so any thoughts in that regard are appreciated.

TIA.
