.... from a dealer 500 miles from home?
I'm considering it. Do I have too much confidence in the 2008 Ragen?Does someone want to just shoot me now and save me from the misery?
We are at this delima because wifey and I are set on a particular model FA3405, and since pickins are slim, nearest one with desired features is damn near cross country. The main concerns are: orphaned trailer / no factory support AND no dealer support / once I leave the dealer, I won't be back.
I've read a little bit on here about how I need to have a private policy in place to cover potential problems, one that is valid from day 1. Since I'm a pretty good do it yourselfer, I'm mostly looking to cover the rig for a major problems such as delamination, frame issues. So, right now I need advice on aftermarket warranty options in case I buy a lemon of a trailer (type / typical cost / having claim work performed).
OK, wiseguys..... don't just tell me to "buy an Attitude etc" please!
Thanks!

You know the warranty is gone, or will be.
I would still buy one, though. We are buying a used WW FS2600. We would buy new one if we could find a new one and could afford it.
They are selling of some remaining stock at the factory, and they have a Rage'n FA3405. I think you can call WW and choose ext 216.
I'll shoot you a pm.

If the price was right, and the extended warranty would kick in now.. yeah I would, only after a very detailed PDI. If the dealer is that far, chances are you are not going back to them for any thing - so make sure the warranty is accepted locally. Do your homework, research, know what to look for as far as possible problems and historical problems and you can avoid many in your own rig, but that goes for new with warranty and those without.

I would, and make sure to get a good extended warranty.
Have you checked Richardsons Rv in Riverside.
Last I checked they had a few Ragen 5ers. They're online.

I think I would, oh wait I did! Well I did think I had a warranty when we bought ours. I knew of problems at Weekend Warrior But I really didn't think they would take Rage'n down with them? I sold my WW to Get our FA 34-05. We went to tour the factory when ours was just about finished and they were really busy. I would say the 08's were at their best. we only had a couple of things that needed attention. one was a small pin hole in the fresh water fill hose that got the floor damp under the oven. the other was the Sat. Dome was wired wrong (New option, we had the first one ordered). we chose to pass on the slide, Haven't heard of any problems but 2008 was the first year it was available on the 34-05 and we didn't feel we needed it anyway. Some of the 08 models came with tube TVs and the later 08's came with flat panels.
I didn't get an extended warranty and I'm not worried. I do have a nice blue 2 year warranty card though..

Yes, subject to a nit picking PDI prior to final signing that include "due bills" for anything not right. Or price reductions if Dealer was a little flaky or had a reputation for stringing out repairs for a long time or rep for poor repairs. Price would have to be more than 35% below MSRP Build Sheet. All Ragen's have a MSRP build sheet. Extended warranty (service contract) could be a nice "feel good" thing but would not be necessary if unit passed PDI but remember this would be a PDI from h*LL for the dealer.....

Great input guys, thanks!
I'm looking at a similar unit today just to size it up take some measurements etc.
After that, I'll get into full negotiating mode.

I'm disapointed that Ragen didn't make it. We bought a new unit back in February. Since that time, we used it extensively. Not one problem with anything. Its a very well built trailer. Much better than the weekend warrior we had before.
Good luck with your decision

I have an 08 fa3005. wouldn't trade it for anything. it is a great trailer that is well built. Have you checked California Trailers (i believe). they have a new lot in Baldwin Park, Ca that has some Ragens on it. Good luck.
