The Amsterdam store was sort out of the way and difficult to get to from the NY Turnpike. Don't think there was ever much traffic.

camping world is owned by freedom roads and the dealers are part of the deal. When they purchased dealers who had recently expanded the camping world store they had to decide which to keep open so many closed. I remember it wasn't to long ago when CW had only 5 or 6 free standing stores.

Very true - we drove by it today. While it looks nice sitting next to the Thruway the exit for it is a few miles down the road. Sure looses the spontaneous customer, and if you’re traveling east to west you’re well past the exit before you see the store. Poor location, IMO.

There are 24 hours in every day - it all depends on how you choose to use them.

Before I left Laz Days I heard that CW will close that store when the lease is done. LD never wanted to be in the accessory biz, so not sure what that building will become. Maybe a new standalone Cafe for hot dogs on Saturdays?

Better to get an entrepreneur to open an accesory store.

I thought CW is owned by the Affinity Group.
When I contacted their Human Resources Department a few weeks ago, it was at the Affinity headquarters.

I think The Affinity Group is the corprate owner of them both; CW & Freedom Roads.

I was at the new Roanoke CW last Friday. I was told they're going to close all CW stores that are in a dealership that is not CW owned.

I'm glad to see the CW store in Roanoke. I think it will do just fine. It's right on I-81, highly visible, and easy access. There's a Gander Mountain and Tractor Supply located right there with it. All 3 are brand new.

I'm so happy that store in Roanoke is open as its only 40 mins from me. Also pleased to hear CW may be dumping the non-owned stores. Any experience I've had with an RV Dealer / Camping World combo has been less than stellar. They've all made it quite clear their dealership comes first and CW would seem like something they do on the side. I've been happy with the corporate stores and hope Roanoke will be no exception.

Large site locations right next to an interstate are pretty hard to find and expensive. There is a CW at Syracuse, NY.

I have had great luck with independent "mom and pop" places. Diedricks for example south of Albany and just off the thru-way. Most independents can get anything you need. They have the experience and i find they are often cheaper than some bigger places.

i'd bet there are good independents in most areas.
