Hi fellow campers

We would like a few quick responses on the above motorhome. It has a workhorse frame and a vortex engine. It's a model 34-N.
What problems, if any, have you had with this motorhome, or any other gas Four Winds Coach's, with a workhorse frame and Vortex engine?
THANKS
Evie

i have a 2005 windsport, which is made by four winds, i'm not sure if u were asking specifically about the workhorse chasis (which mine has to) or the whole coach itself so i'm gonna assume the chasis only....the only problem i had was with the battery clamps to the engine. 2 summers ago the wires melted around the battery clamp to the terminal, i did'nt know it until i got over the mackinaw bridge and the coach suddenly suddered and bucked, i thought it was the transmission, i was able to make it to the campground we were going to near sault st. marie, the next day when i had to move sites, my voltage was down to 5.something, supposed to be 14.2-14.3 and the transmission would'nt shift. still thinking it was the transmission i decided to check the engine, and found the clamp and cable melted..fortunately i was able to get a new clamp at a auto store in town, thank god it was a saturday. and got some help from some other's with motorhomes to change it, i was told i was lucky it did'nt catch on fire. everythings fine now. sorry long story..

We looked at a Hurricane when we started looking at a class a and really like them. You don't want the earlier ones, but the last two or three years they have really put some quality in their product. We have a Infinity by Four Winds and we really love it. We looked a long time and for the money it's a great coach. Good luck. Just remember, bigger's better!!!!

I own a 2007 34B with the same chassis and negione...we had a few minor things in the first six months but the dealer fixed them right away...we now have almost 10K on it and absolutely love it...i dont think you can go wrong with that motorhome for the money!!

Be happy to answer any specific questions you have on the MH...

Our 2007 Hurricane 34B now has almost 13,100 miles on it, and we still love it. Had some problems when it was new, but mostly vender provided items (a/c unit, jack controller, bad window that wouldn't lock). Nothing substantial to do with the parts Four Winds built. The dealer fixed every issue, and Four Winds never questioned anything we were aware of.

The Workhorse chassis on ours has been flawless. The GM 8.1L and Allison 6-speed are perfectly matched--very quiet and easy to drive. With three slides, the extra capacity the Workhorse W-21 chassis provides over the standard Ford chassis is worth the slight extra cost.

We bought ours in the fall of 07 and had problems ranging from the front windshield falling out to the side delaminating Four Winds was very good to us took care of it all even flying us back to Elkhart to ppick it up after all repairs done. since we got it back we have taken 2 week end trips with no problems and like tthe coach very much now we have to figure out what to do about the analog TVs they were still using in them in 07

We got our 2007 34B last May and just completed a 3000 miles trip. We have our share of problems, mostly minor.

F53: Engine is really hot after climbing long hills, the plastic in the compartment warped. Muffler broke off on the highway. 45mph max on a 7% hill.

House: Shower leaks. Slide out(bed) leaks when rain. Winds coming in from windshield and a few other minor problems.

Things we don't like: TV in the front is too low - bumped our head too many times. Cheapo dashboard - Shake like crazy on bad roads, bad storage latch design. Other than that, we love our Hurricane.

We're thinking to upgrade to a higher end RV next year.

Instead of the Hurricane, can I suggest you look at the Windsport 34B(sister to the Hurricane). It has a bigger wheel 22.5 vs 19.5, better compartment latch design, and full body paint. Good luck.
