Read the fine print on your extended coverage policy before you try to recover costs of repairs that were done by yourself. Replaced my converter to the tune of $300. Very simple job but when I contacted my bumper to bumper extended coverage company, I was infoemed that they would not reimburse for any repairs done by the owner. Had to be completed by a licensed repairman. So, any repair that will exceed the $100 deductable will be done by a shop even though I could do it myself with lots less pain in the butt and a lot less expense to the insurance co.
Most of the stuff people worry about ain't never gonna happen anyway.

yep, and you have to get prior approval if you want to assure that you are covered.

I can't stand that B.S. There was a recall on one of the "detectors" in my Raptor but I had to actually lug my beast into a dealer to have it replaced. It would have cost me more in gas and my own time to get it to the dealer. I wrote the company a letter and asked if they could just send it to me since it was such a "Helen Keller" replacement and they told me that only a licensed dealer could replace it. So, I never got it.
