I just want to watch a movie to fall asleep to with a timer at night in the front sleeper. 30 to 45 max.

I purchased a Xantrex 400w inverter, which is more than enough just to watch some tv. My thought was to put a spare battery in the under storage, strap it in, and run the wires up to the front sleeper area. Hook to the inverter, and wall mount a small TV or portable DVD player.

My concerns are shoving another battery in the storage area, would a gel battery be safer for venting? Is there any issues with using just a lead based battery in an under storage area?

Im trying to avoid using the outlet in the bedroom as we boondock everytime, and need my 2 12v to not be used on a drain at night watching tv, wake up in the morning, and cant start the gen.

Any suggestions? All help is appreciated.

I have a couple Xantrex 400w inverters in my toyhauler. Go with two or four 6 volt batteries and you don't have to worry about them being drained in the morning.

The new Sears Platinum series and the old Optima batteries, spiral AGM's, can be mounted anywhere, even upside down. There are others out there also. No gas venting to worry about. You should keep your 12 volt DC lines heavy and short which means it would be better to mount the inverter close to the battery and run longer AC lines to the TV. Even though your TV is on a timer your inverter will still be on and drawing current. You might want to consider how you are going to shut that off. Don't forget adequate fusing for all circuits.

Good Luck

Gel battery or an AGM battery would be ok in the storage area, but I'd still want at least some sort of minimal ventilation
