Ok so this one takes the cake!!!

Today I was unhooking from a trip I made this weekend. I got everything set, landing gear down and a nice gap between the hitch plate and the kingpin. I went to put the lock pin out and it wouldn't come out. It was a little loose so I thought that I needed to back up a little. So I moved the truck back and it was no better. As I kept yanking on the bar real hard I then realized that.......
I NEVER REMOVED THE PADLOCK!!!!! DUH.......

Just figured I'd share that one with everyone and you'd get a good laugh.

things like that happen as we get older. Thats why it takes two of us to make proper procedures to get things done. Sometimes that doesn't work. I suppose full timers NEVER have a problem because of the constant repetitiveness. Maybe I need a chaik board around my neck as a reminder with the proper sequenceo follow.

If this is the worst you have done. You're doing fine bro. At least it was a mistake that didn't hurt you, the truck, the rig or the wallet.

As already stated, been there done that. It sort of makes you feel like you've slipped a few clogs in the mind's gears. How about when you try to drive off and you've forgotten to remove the wheel chocks. That's why I've added these things to my checklist.

Don't think fulltimers never screw up...it was only several weeks ago we actually ran over one of our wheel chocks...and we move at least once a week!

Practice doesn't always make perfect...just gives us more chances to break something!!! LOL

Must have been a great trip if you were still that tired! We all make mistakes. Few of us are secure enough to admit it! But that was funny!
