I assume it has dual pane windows. Is it a quad slide unit?? If it is a quad, you might have a problem keeping it in the low 70s in the afternoon in direct sun unless you close up a slide or two. These slides are not insulated as well as the rest of the coach and the more slides the worse the performance.

They will probably be fine. Especially if you use something good to block the sun load from the front windshield. You will be fine with these two A/C units. These are the sizes we had on the last unit. We have two 15Ks on the coach we have now and we have two slides and the units cycle off and on -- no matter how bad the heat is.

I have triple 13.5s and even down here in Florida in August I hardly ever use all three of them. Two do just fine and I like it very cool inside...

Two 13,500's have been an industry standard for a long time and that's what I have in a two slide 40' coach. We camped in heat index's of 110 last weekend. When the sun goes down they cycle during the day run continously. Kept us very comfortable. That said if either or both of mine layed down tomorrow I would replace with 15,000's.

I did forget to add on my earlier post, we also use the Prompt Sunscreens on the front windshield and that made BIG difference in keeping the 13.5 A/C's working one at a time in 95* weather. We also have sun shades on all of the windows, including the slide windows which also makes a big difference when they are used.

Mine is sitting in the backyard, full sunlight, 92 degrees, all 4 slides out.
When I pulled up five minutes ago, neither 13.5 was on.
Both are set at 75, and it's nice in there.
I really think the slide toppers, along with the window awnings, help.

They may not cool the coach to 70 degrees with the slides out, but it will be safe to leave the dogs there--even if one unit fails you should get at least 10 degrees cooler inside with a properly maintained 13.5 a/c.

I have 2 and been in 100 plus with no problem as long as you keep your shades down and don't get the direct sun in.

My first reaction would be yes since we often camp in hot weather with only 30 amp service and with just one 15,000 btu heat pump running the coach will stay in the low 70's even in 90 weather...

However, our coach is extremely well insulated, dual pane windows, window awnings on all windows the top is white and the coach is not dark in color.

So the answer depends on the insulation, window type, ability to shade the windows and the slide top..Plus on the coloring of the top and sides.

I really like my RV cool. I want the ability to keep my RV cool with all slides out in 100 plus temperatures. My home cools to under 70 degrees in all temperatures so I want my RV to do the same. After all, we paid enough money for a MH so lets be comfortable.

I ordered 15000 btu AC's for the front and rear when I ordered my Tiffin. My MH is only 34 feet,11 inches with duel pane windows and if I could of ordered bigger AC's I would of got them. I still can't get below 70 degrees on 100 plus degree days but the RV is cool so I have to put up with what I got.

To answer the OP question, if you RV in over 95 degree temperature I would get the larger units.
