I ran mine for 2 weeks straight one time and only stopped it to change the oil. Didn't have any problem. 7.5KW Onan diesel.

The only thing I can say is do an oil change and clean any debris out of airways for gen box before you leave for the contest. Then (if you can), take the spark arrestor out of the tailpipe, this will help it run cooler. The last thing you want at a contest, is for the gen to die.

Good luck on your BBQ!!

The hours you're runnning it won't hurt it ,but it sure would't hurt to change the oil to Mobil One synthetic. Sure will take the heat a lot better,no matter how long you run it

Running the genset for 24 straight hours is a walk in the park. I run mine for days and weeks in the hot Florida climate all the time. Just keep up with the maintainence...

My concern is you will wake up DEAD. I would suggest a Gen-Turi adapter and/or shutting down at night.

I have run my Onan 5500 (With Gen-Turi) 25 hours straight. Never had cause to run it longer.. 2 hours w/o the Gen-turi and my CO alarm starts getting annoying (Which is exactly what it's supposed to) so you understand my concern.

When we go to college football games we crank the generator Friday afternoon and shut it off Sunday afternoon when we get home. Usually 5 to six weekends a year for 4 years now. No problems no matter the temperature.

Assisting our relatives during the hurricane ravaged New Orleans area we ran our Onan 5500 non-stop, except for checking oil level daily, for 18 consecutive days total of 432 hours. Oil consumption was minimal @ 1/2 cup for the duration. Mobil 1, 10w-30 full synthetic. Got to love a well maintained Onan. Bullit proof unit!
