Here's a couple more ideas about tires:
1-make sure the inflation pressure is correct: you can save 5-10% on gas money. Even John McCain says so!
2-consider inflating with nitrogen instead of simply air. They'll stay inflated longer, the nitrogen molecules are about 10x bigger than oxygen, etc., escape much slower, and nitrogen reduces tire deterioration. Tires run cooler. ALL airliners use nitrogen in their tires, as do all race cars, NASCAR, etc. Look for a 'nitrofill' station on the net, or Costco.
3-buy your tires now instead of next year. Each tire requires about a barrel of oil to make, that's about 40-50 gallons, and the price of oil has gone way up so you should take advantage of the low price of old stock on the shelves. Tire prices might double next year.

Our TT had all new Maxxis put on in 2004. No problems at all, except... the spare was recently stolen! It was still new and covered up, on the rear of the trailer.

I never heard of 'maxxis' tires before yesterday, but today at the coffee shop I notice that one of the elegant new bicycles leaning against the wall said "maxxis.com' on the sidewall!
Is this outfit taking over the high-class tire business?

Maxxis are good tires,I have them on the front of my coach,What I like most about them is the three ply sidewalls, This make for a much stronger sidewall,Most just have two plys.

I replaced my tires on my 5er with Maxxis for my 3 month Alaska trip. After 11000 miles I've had no problems after the Alaska Hwy., Cassier, Denali gravel/mud access road and many pot holes, frost heaves and other gravel roads.I drive the speed limit and monitor the pressure which I only tweeked once. I would recommend them highly.

When I run a general search, however, I come up with a bunch of other threads that mention the tires.
Every page has the Search: box at the top. They all search the same place (the whole site).
I went to the advanced search tab and put in Maxxis as the word to search for. I asked for the last 12 months of posts and it came up with 60+ pages of them:
Maxxis Tires
FWIW, from what I have read, they make a really good tire. My problem was that I was in a hurry so I could leave on a long trip. The tire dealer that orders Maxxis needed 3-4 days to get them in. My 2nd choice, Goodyear, didn't have any Marathons available on the West Coast.
So I ended up with TowMaster radial tires from the local Big O store. I'm in my 2nd season with them and they appear to be wearing well.
The OEM Carlisle bias-ply tires they replaced were separating cords and I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have made it through the trip.

Bought my trailer with Maxxis tires on it and after 18 months noticed the sidewalls cracking. While minor, I was concerned. Switched to Marathons and after 24 months a tire started to show the signs of tread separation (i.e. bulging).
I'm now back to Maxxis.

I've ran them on several trailers and never had any problem. On my current trailer, I put Maxxis on soon as I got back to my home town. I definitely trust them.
