Please don't go camping where there's wildlife then. Remember your are camping in their home... Some of us actually enjoy seeing them alive.

Not afraid of them, but if the little bugger gets in the camper and makes a mess, he's just signed himself up on the stomp-kick list for my size 13s. Rat Trap, Dcon in Peanut butter, one way or the other, he's going to live much longer if he makes a return trip inside my camper.

younchem, thank you for being a kind soul.

As for the rest of you, stay the heck out of the woods since you can't handle it.

Kill Kill Kill

There are ways that you could deal with this is by actually feeding them outside....

The best solution....fix the trailer. It shouldn't have an opening that the chipmunk can get through. If it were me, I'd be figuring out how to keep the critter out of the trailer....I really wouldn't want to kill it.

Now at home....if the critters sneak in, the traps get set! But, I agree that when in their territory, a little patience and mercy is a good idea!

Darn mean people trying to kill the chipmunk.
I have one who lives under my back deck I feed him.
He has been know to come up to the patio door and place his little hand (paw)
on the glass and look in to the kitchen.
When he does that I'll get him a cookie or a peanut, he can stuff two peanuts in his mouth funny to see.
Killing is out of the question.

After throwing out the food that he opened and keeping everything else in the pantry, oven and microwave we had no more problems. Did he pay us a few more visits? Probably. We didn't have any way of knowing. He probably came back and found his food sources gone so went on to the next sucker, er, camper. Knowing how smart this little critter was he probably ate pretty good during "tourist season".

This encounter happened because we brought all our stuff to his place. Just as one would expect to have food issues with bears and raccoons if food was left out this was no different to us. It was up to us to do what was necessary to eliminate the chances of wildlife getting human food. For the cost of a few dollars we all had a good laugh. We've learned a lesson now: Wildlife is resourceful when it comes to food--even more than I thought. We need to have better food storage practices.

Rodents can tear out the insulation on your vehicle firewall overnight. I speak from experience unfortunately.
