Can you get insurance on a truck camper? My agent says it is just part of the truck and they offer no additional insurance. This seems kind of odd.

Any input would be appreciated.

Better ask your agent again and get it in writing what exactly is covered.

I discovered, after my AC was nailed by a failing branch (unit was in "storage" at the end of the house for the winter), yes it's covered while attached to the truck, but that coverage is limited only liability and nothing else. So if it came off and killed somebody, I'd be covered.

Tried to turn it in on my homeowners and they gave my the not covered because it's a vehicle. Yet, in the eyes of NYS DMV, since their is no title, registration, or plates, it's not.

What I don't get is that if it was my lawnmower, homeowners would have cover it. I tried to convince my agent that it was just a funny looking lawnmower with an AC. He didn't buy it...

Finally I had to add it to my auto policy eventhough they admit it is not a car, truck, or trailer.

I just added my new TC to my policy. I have Travelers of Fl. Ins. on my PU. The agent said it will cost another $11. for 6 months. I got the policy change today but haven't had chance to review it yet.

It might be interesting to share what language is in the policy that covers the camper specifically and under what circumstances. How detailed is the language? You know the old saying; If it isnt in writing...

I'm not sure about Florida insurance regs, but up here we have a "rider" on our home insurance for our TC. It's a replacement cost "rider" and covers all perils such as flood, fire, earthquake, etc. when the unit is in storage. When it's on the truck, it's covered by our vehicle insurance......might be worth looking into down there.
