The bigger question is do you really think ANYONE tests their wheels ??? I doubt it .... and if they do maybe once and then they change manufacturing process, plant, start doing it overseas, different lots of metal, etc. etc. We "American Made" pride people like to just market stuff higher and claim high quality and it got me this time LOL.

I think another key think is just the basic design on top of weight rating ... those holes cut in the spokes is where it broke ... the shalers have just 8 big non hacked'd up spokes so even thought weight rating is a touch lower (3100) I feel ok about them due to this one fact.

Very common problem with weld wheels anymore. My father in law owns a tire store, and he wont even sell Weld wheels anymore. They crack, and peel, and Weld wont stand behind them. And Lets not forget the PRICE!!

Yup, sorry it happened to you, but there have been quite a few Weld wheel failures, and from what I understand, limited luck with warranty (not that you'd want to replace it with another).

Thanks for sharing.

I had the same kind of cracking on my Carson trailer wheels. Found out 3 of the 7 wheels were only rated for 1900 lbs, when they all needed to be 2500 lb rating or better. Still waiting for resolution from the dealer who sold us the trailer, did replace the wheels with some steelies with a 2800 lb rating.
