Hi Everybody,

Just got back from a great 5 day trip to the White Mountains area in Arizona. As I was pulling out of our last campsite I tweaked my manual double steps on a rock and bent them pretty bad. I have a WW 2008 FS2500 which I believe has these steps welded on. Has anybody had this happen to their rig and is it difficult to remove and replace this? Any help would be much appreciated!!

I have no answer to your question but I have a similar situation that perhaps someone answering your question can also help me with my problem. I went from drop axles to straight axles on my TH recently and in the process added 4 inches of height to my TH. Now I have very high first step even through I use a short step stool from Camping World. I need to switch from a single manual step to double manual steps on my WW FS 2300. How difficult will the switch be?

I want to leave this earth quietly in my sleep like my grandfather and not like the hysterical, screaming passengers riding in granddad's RV just before the big crash.

shop the rv surplus stores for new steps. I don't think it is a big thing to remove the old and install the new. I'll be removing my double manual on Monday and installing my new triple as the wife couldn't make it out the bedroom door with only the double. don't know why there are triple on the back door and only a double on the front,.

CW sells replacement steps in Single, Double, or triple -manual or electric- all bolt on. Most RV's have bolt-on steps, as they are often in need of replacement. According to the insurance people, your issue is second only to replacement of television antennas.

Double manual is # 37039.

I switched from a double to a triple on our last trailer, It took him less than an our to cut off the old one and weld the new one in it's place.

Thanks for the info. Heading to Camping World to purchase and install steps. I hope they do the job right. I'll let you know what happens.

I had somewhat of a similar problem with the manual step on my Coachmen. The TT came with a single slide out step, and with the upgrade to 225/75-15 tires, the first step was a little too much for the DW. I didn't like the idea of a portable step, too much extra to pack away, so I picked up a set of Hickory Springs double manual steps. Of course, they were not exactly the same width as the oem unit, and when I tried to unbolt the oem unit, the bolts just spun in the frame, so I had to cut them off. And, the oem steps were welded to two angle supports that were tack welded to the frame, so I had to cut them off too, because the new steps were wider than the brackets were spaced. I mounted the new Hickory frame brackets to the frame, and drilled up through the frame, and into the door threshold, so I could use two 4" carriage bolts with large flat washers to support the front of the mounting brackets. I sealed everything, and is was pretty solid, but with the extra step, and the extra leverage it put on the mounts, I wanted additional support for my 270 lb load on them. I picked up a set of the Stabil-Step Jacks from CampingWorld, and they worked well on the first step, but I wanted something easier to set up and use. I bolted a piece of PT 2x6 to the underside of the bottom step, and made some slide in retainer brackets on the bottom of it for the square plate of the step jack to slide into before folding the lower step down. Now I slide the two jacks into the retaining brackets, and then rotate the step down and adjust the two jacks to support the step. The lower step is stable, and my weight doesn't flex the mounting system. Even the DW feels better using them.
