Here are some photos of interior modifications recently completed.
The entertainment center sits atop the existing corner cabinet and contains a space to hide the jumble of cords as well as provide some additional storage space. The TV support has a space for the Direct TV box, VHS/DVD combo and a spot for the remotes. Thumb stops keep the components from tumbleing out the front of the unit. I thought it would be impossible to match the existing colors so we opted for a contrasting color to blend with the walls and carpet.

In the bed room, we added a floor rack on either side of the bed. On the left side, it stores VHS/DVDs, paper backs, etc. On the right side it is sized to hold magazines.

In the kitchen, we recycled the original TV shelf into a counter top extension.

I love those book/magazine racks! What a GREAT idea! Question: how much room did you have between the side of the bed and the wall you mounted the racks on? I'd like to do something like this but our walk-around space seems pretty narrom already. I'd probably have to adapt your idea and mount ours on the wall where the TV shelf is. Did you make the design yourself?

TheBeans:
Before the modification, there was approx. 18.5 inches free space on either side between the bed and the wall. The VCR/DVD rack has a foot print of 3.5"d x 36"w x 28"h. The magazine rack has a foot print of 3.5"d x 48"w x 28.75"h. So after the units were installed, the foot space on the floor was reduced to 15 inches on each side. Both were designed by the DW and myself and built by yours truly in my workshop. They are made of yellow poplar.

Looks Great! I'd really like to have TV shelf changed to a counter top extension, but what did you do to cover where you pulled it off the wall in the bedroom? Did it make a big hole there? How hard was it to install in the kitchen?

Actually, the TV shelf was in the LR. If you look closely in the last photo, you can see screw holes just to the left of the TV where it was mounted. I intend to find a place inside a closet where I can peel a small amount of the wall covering to cover the screw holes and hide them a little better. It wasn't a big job to remount to the end of the kitchen base cabinet. I only had to add some spacers to the end of the base cabinet to make the mounting surface flush
