I changed the two deep cell batteries in my fifth wheel. Now when I turn the lights on they burn very bright and turn off after 30-60 seconds. Also the fan on the exhaust hood runs at twice the speed as normal. It's as if there's too much power now. Any thoughts on why this might be would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like you are running 24 volts instead of 12. Can't be sure without knowing what you had and what you replaced it with. Chances are you had two 6 volt batteries connected in series (makes 12 volts) and installed two new 12 volt batteries the same way (makes 24volts) that needed to be connected in parallel. If so, leave the positive from one battery connected to the RV, and the negative from the other battery connected to ground but, the connections between the batteries should be positive to positive and negative to negative.
With any luck your fuses will have protected all your circuits.
Good Luck.

8 volt golf cart batteries act that way too.

Yep, thats it. Thanks a million. The circuits are O.K. Just need to change a few light bulbs.
I connected the positive cable to one battery and the ground to the negative on the other battery with a jumper to link the two negatives. Do I also need a jumper to link the two positives. It works the way I have it now but I'm not sure about that positive jumper.

Yes, connect the two positives. Otherwise, you are only using one of the batteries.

If everything is ok except a few lite bulbs, don't ever say you don't have good luck on your side !

Sounds like you put them in series instead of parallel. 24 Volts instead of 12 volts.
