Wow - good info and quick, cudos to the RV.NET users.

I will be adding a quality suspension system to my list of "must haves" for my trailer shopping. One thing I've noticed in my internet research - many manufacturers do not say much about the system unless it is the "independant" torsion system, one did say they had the the equalizers.

Thanks for adding to my RV Education. I want to be a reasonably well informed RV buyer when the time comes.

I hate to puncture your bubble, but I just noticed that your TV is a 1/2-ton truck. With the exception of Airstream and Award, I think you'll be very hard pressed to find a quality suspension on a trailer that's light enough to tow with a 1/2-ton truck.

It's easy to upgrade to the HD kit & a fancy equalizer for a reasonable sum after you buy the TT.

My 09 Prowler is 1/2 ton towable, has rubber Joy-ride equalizers with leaf springs and axles rated to hold it's GVWR on their own. 2008's came with the the Dexter version of the rubberized suspension. That is one of the reasons we bought it. The running gear was topnotch.

FWIW Jayco uses torflex axles in their lineup and they are far from a top end manufacturer.

ALso some axles are bent for alignment purposes. Don't assume a bent axle means it was overloaded.

Our current camper has rubber torsion axle suspension. On the scales it weighs 9,520# with the Al-Ko suspension properly sized for the camper. Our axles are properly aligned and towes great with no abnormal tire wear. I have towed over all types of terrain and rough roads with ours. The one thing I have noticed with the torsion versus the spring axles is that they don't beat or shake all of the electronics and cabnets to death.

You can always tear up equipment no matter how well it is made with abuse. Hitting an obstacle you will bend a axle on either type or misalign them.
