I ran across some FAQ's on converters today. Flickering lights can be caused by overloading the converter. They say to turn off items runing on 12V DC. Then turn off the converter. Turn back on and use less load. This could explain why it works sometimes. You may need a larger converter based on your current usage.

Question: Is it something like this

BRIGHT 10 seconds DIM 3 seconds BRIGHT 3 seconds DIM 3 seconds

Or is it Bright/dim/bright/dim

in the first case I'd suspect a greater than designed load on the converter, this may be due to a shorted cell in the battery

Never seen teh 2nd case save on one LED Bulb I just replaced.
