Same here. We live on the highway and we are always seeing rvs going by. A couple of weeks ago we were in Wendy's eating and a couple pulled up in the empty lot next store in a Class A towing a vehicle. They came into Wendys and sat down at a table after getting their food. DH asked me if he should go over and talk to them (just because they have an rv). As much as I wanted to I told him not too. But a universal sign would be great! We are bikers too and we always wave to other bikers on the street. Also, I always wonder if the rvs we pass is someone on here. I'll bet most are. If you ever travel on Rt. 301 (Crain Highway) in Upper Marlboro, you'll pass my house!

we are not fans of decals...but some sort of identifier a plastic flag for example on the antenna (for those that have antenna's) could be a pretty clear give away as to why your waving

what is a "california howdy" ?

For the most part, RV'ers don't even wave to each other, esp the "A's". I used to wave but I've never seen one of those folks wave back. Afer awhile, it's a no go. JMHO Bill

I find children passing me wave more then any RV'ers

at highway speeds on the interstate, by the time I check out the RV, and get to glance in the window it is too late to acknowledge and wave back.
back when I had a bounder, I noticed all bounder owners waved when meeting.

I always wonder if people assume that I'm friendly just 'cause I drive an RV, or because I'm always smiling....
Beware, I've known of unfriendly RVers.

We usually wave to other Rver's. I figure even if they don't wave back, maybe I made them smile!

I love the way bikers wave to each other, now THAT is cool!

I am from California and I don't know what a "California Howdy" is either...Wanna tell?

There's some kind of signal in Hawaii that signals "all is well" like the thumb and fifth finger extended in a wave. (I've forgotten exactly what it is - been awhile since I've been over there) - That might work.......

If you remember the Beverly Hillbillies, then you know what a "California Howdy" is - I'd probably get my post deleted if I told you exactly what it is.
(something about a middle finger though............)

"Does this taste funny?"

I just looked that sign up on Google - It's called the Shaka Sign and is made by extending the thumb and fifth finger in a wave. It can say "thank you" and is also a common sign used by the surfing community - think they'd object if we stole their sign???

I like when crazy people wave at me lol.But really the only groups that seem to have this communication down are motorcycle riders and Corvette owners.I owned both at one time and it was usually a mutual wave.
