Hi folks
I also have a 97 RT 190 with an Onan generator that was unbearable.
I was planning on getting my brakes done at Midas soon and I made a note to myself to ask them for some ideas on how to silence the beast - better muffler, etc.
But when I started up the gen the next morning, the beast was so much quieter I could not believe it.
Upon inspection, the rigid strap that connects the gen muffler to the frame had broken. It seems that most of the noise and all the vibration I was experiencing on the inside of the van was being transmitted thru that support.
I'm going to rig something that will support the muffler but not 'fix' it to the frame so rigidly.
Of course, I'm also looking forward to hearing reports on the muffler solution.
BTW, got the brakes done (rotors, hoses, etc) at the local mechanic my brother-in-law has been using for 20 years - cost me half of what Midas quoted.
thanks
Scott

Scott, go to Home Depot or s'Lowe's, and look in the hardware department for small springs. I think Rodger (out moderator) has a pic of my jury-rigged Roadtrek spring hanger in the generator section on his website. Yes, getting some 'give' in that outer mount can make a bunch of difference, more in inside than out.
