Well I found my dinghy. I got a used 07 Jeep Wrangler Sahara with the blue ox towing system and brake buddy already installed. The Jeep has 5500 miles on it and has been towed once from Houston to Big Bend and back. Wooo Hooo.

You’ll love your Jeep. I just bought a 2008 Jeep Wrangler Sahara Unlimited 4wd (my first off-road vehicle).
I’ve been towing it with the hardtop and all 4 doors off. I’ve tried to find a cover that will stay on while being towed – no luck. I have the trail cover which covers the cab area including the door area, but it isn’t designed to stay on while being towed a highway speeds. Has anybody tried this?
I’m having storage bags made (the stock door storage bags didn’t fit right) for the doors so that I can slide them under the motorhome at the campground.
I had the BlueOx baseplate installed. I haven’t installed my U.S. Gear Unified Brake System yet. The light wiring was easier than could be imagined. Since I had the tow package on the Jeep, I merely ran a 4 conductor wire from the motorhome to back of the Jeep and plugged it into the jack that would otherwise be used for a trailer behind the Jeep. No diodes, no extra bulbs – wow, that was easy. Of course I’ll have to modify this when I install the brake system.
It is indeed a nuisance to have to pull the fuse on the Jeep to keep the battery from running down. I am hoping that I won’t have to do this once I complete my brake system wiring since it will include a charge line. We’ll see.

Why do you have to pull fuse to keep jeep battery from discharging - I have a 1997 Wrangler - getting ready to tow - do I have to pull battery fuses??

wesdevoe, It all depends on how you wire your lights. If you get one of the wiring kits that include diodes to isolate the system, then you shouldn't need to pull any fuses. If you just tie into the existing wiring without doing anything to isolate the Jeep wiring from the motorhome, then you will probably need to pull a fuse or two to prevent problems.

PLEASE NOTE:
There is a difference in the electrical systems between a TJ (1997-2006) and a JK (2007-2009). There is also a difference in the towing procedures for each different model. You only have to pull the fuse for the JK. Actually the owners manual states that you should disconnect the battery when towing for any length. The best bet is to always read and follow the instructions printed in the OWNERS MANUAL for your Jeep.
