Thanks again everyone. My wife just got news of a death in the family so the trip is off. I had just filled the truck and was about to load the camper on so it's a real disappointment but tempered severely by the loss of my beloved brother in law.

Well, Crater Lake has been there for thousands of years so I guess it's not going anywhere soon. We'll get up there next year.

Besides, I did get a chance to overfly it one time a couple of years ago so right now I'm just in the mood to count my blessings.

My sympathies to you and you family. Crater Lake will be there when you do get the chance to go. Take care.

Kcabpilot-Sorry to hear of your lost and that you won't be going.
My DW is not sure if she can take off for 11 days. Won't know until the last minute. So our trip may have to wait until next year also.

Mazama looks like a great place to camp. Anyone been there in the last week or so?

I was at Crater Lake last weekend, but I didn't go into the campcround. The snow is gone for now. It will probably start snowing up there around late Sept.

P.S. Kcabpilot: I think flying over Crater Lake is a restricted air space area.

We were there about 2 weeks ago... great place.

Only wish we had planned to stay for several days.

I called the Rangers up there. They close a good portion of the park, maybe 2/3's of it after Labor Day Weekend. They still recommend reservations after Labor Day Weekend. We will see it in another 2 weeks.
