We were at Ferris a few weeks ago, on the way to Bon Echo. It still uses the self registration system during the week ( In August! ) because it is only staffed on weekends......maybe no staff during the off season???
It is nice there, very quiet, a bit like Ontario Parks were in the Olden days :-)
One thing though, we found our site to be water logged after all the rain, so be careful were you set up.
Only one shower per comfort staion though, so 2? for the park LOL

Fall camping is the best. Less people out. A lot less insects to deal with. You don't have to run the A/C. And that campfire feels so much nicer when it is actually cool out.

Which site were you on? we booked #78 (cause were arriving saterday mid day just incase there as a bunch of weekenders show up friday night) to garentee us a hydro site,
as for the showers,,, we have our own, but hey if we decide to use the park shower, I don't think the little woman will mind sharing the shower with me the one in the TT is to small for 2
And yes we are looking forward to some peice and quiet, I had an extremely busy past few months, working long hours 7 days a week, dealing with alot of people(clients) with little time for family, so I am looking forward to it.

I just recently looked to see how many sites were booked in our campground at that time, and there was only about 6 sites booked. This is a great place to go in the fall if you like watching the hawk and eagle migrations. They tend to fly right over the campground. You can literally see 1000's of Broadwing Hawks every day between September 10th and 20th, and nothing beats watching Bald Eagles circle over your campsite!

Hi! Just returned from Burwell. No hawks yet. Actually not much noticeable wildlife at all. (did see a bunny! and lots of leashed dogs)) The park people hoped that cooler weather would get the migration going. Had a heavy thunderstorm on Monday night so I got to defile the pristine beach Tuesday Morning. Since I think windmills are very neat. The view along the coast is really something special. Had breakfast at the Lighthouse restaurant in Burwell this a.m. before heading home. Pretty good breakfast. The Marine museum and the Windfarm info place are open on weekends only now.
The first campground loop is closed but the other 2 are open. Had a good time.

We came back a day early from Pt Burwell today...heavy rainfall warning today, and Ike arrives tomorrow means not a lot of fun. They're calling for up to 7" of rain over the next couple of days. We went on Wednesday, which was a beautiful day, as was Thursday. Only saw about a dozen hawks and 2 bald eagles though, but the wind was not blowing from a good direction. Really need a north wind to get them moving.
