First time owner of travel trailer trying to learn as much/as quickly as possible. I saw some RV Education Books/DVD's and wondered if anyone had bought or seen them.
Any comments on these or other RV books?
Thanks

Many things are unit specific and can be found in owners manuals. If you go to search you can find newbe questions and answers. Or just ask and we will answer.

trop-a-cal is correct, also recommend just going out (not tooo far or even in the driveway) and just learning all the ins and outs of your unit.
Congrats on your TT.

Welcome to the world of RVing! You can camp in your TT right in your driveway or at a campground close to home to get a good idea of how things work. Make sure you bring a pen & paper with you on your first couple of trips (and a lot of money too :-). You are going to think of all sorts of stuff to get for your new home on wheels.
Personally, I found our RV owner's manual very generic and it really didn't go into maintenance very well. So I would recommend a RV book of some sort. There are tons on the market, I bet even your local library has some on their shelf too!
A couple of sites you might want to check out:
RV Doctor
I've met Gary Bunzer and have one of his books. He actually came to an RV.net rally I organized a couple of years ago. Very nice guy, very knowledgable about RV's. Gary's site offers books and DVD's. Gary has a series of maintenance DVD's that are excellent.
RV Education 101
This site is great for newbies too. They offer a wide variety of books and DVD's as well. I have read a couple of their books and seen a couple of their DVD's. They are very well put together.

Hi!
Welcome to the Open Roads Forum here at RV.net!!!
I know you asked about books and DVD's. Back when I was a complete newbie (about 6 years ago), I did the same thing. I bought books and maybe a DVD or tape. I can't even tell you where they are now as I rarely used them. How come? Because while I was waiting for them to be delivered I found this Forum!
You can get yourself up to speed faster and with better information by reading and posting here than you can using any other printed or video media? Why? Because the answers to posts here are from people that really use their RV's, have a range of experience levels from newbie to "seasoned" and they will give you a variety of ideas and opinions. If you get a book/DVD/tape/etc., you typically get one persons slant on things, and often times it might not even be accurate. Here, you'll get differing opinions and views allowing you to make an informed decision about what might be the best course of action for your own situation. Plus, if the posts here don't answer your specific question, just make your own post, as you did here, and ask us. Also, any type of printed or professionally produced/distributed media will be dated. Here you can often get your questions answered about things you see NOW. So, for instance, if you see some new camping "widget" in the store and you want to know more about before buying it, search/ask here.
How good is it? After being on this forum less then 2 weeks, I was already helping my uncle on a 50A electrical question and he had been an RV'er for more than 30 years.
So grab some coffee and start clicking & reading. I'd recommend three forums for starters: The "Beginning RV'ing", the "General RV'ing" and the forum most applicable to your camper (Class A, Class C, Travel Trailer, etc.). When you have more specific or technical questions, feel free to browse the "Technology Corner" and the "Tech Issues" forums. Towing questions? There's a forum for that as well.
Trust me, consider yourself lucky that you've stumble upon this forum. Used properly, you will be amazed at what you can learn here and how quickly you'll come up to speed.
Try to get familiar with the "Search" utility as well. Check out the "Advanced Search" link and with practice you can get pretty good at researching your topic du jour.
Again, welcome! Hope to see you around the Forums!!!

Get a notebook and start making your own book from the information you pick up here. Include the packet of information you got with your RV and you will probably do better than anything you can buy.
