I have done a lot of reading, including things written by people who have used it in race cars...and that has led me to switch almost everything I own to DOT5 silicone fluid.

DOT 3-4 Verses DOT 5. Which brake fluid should I use?

Jarleaxle this link has already been posted in this thread but you may want to reread how DOT 5 can lead to boiling at 212 degrees and softer brake pedal. I do understand how you feel this way about DOT 5 because I felt that way before I found out the negative side of using DOT 5 for cars and trucks running up and down the roads of America where DOT 3 and DOT 4 offer higher performance with less risks.

Well, yeah...not flushing the system and not bleeding brakes properly can cause problems! A properly-bled and properly-maintained system will have no trouble with silicone fluid. I have over 100,000 miles on my Caddy with DOT5 silicone brake fluid.

FYI: The military has used it for decades.

Stopping a car with old fluid, no matter what the type is pretty easy compared to stopping a 10 to 20 ton coach and most owners don't change their brake fluid like they do their oil, so that said, I think I'd stick to DOT 3,4, or 5.1 in a rolling motel.
I used to run silicon in my 36 Ford PU street rod, but that was the only time, and these arguments didn't apply to that type of vehicle.

Sorry about that, I meant to say 3,4 or 5.1 and have edited the post to reflect this.
