Our updates are nearing completion. The dirty and unloved trailer from under the oaks, once destined to become a chicken coop, is coming closer to being a well loved TT.
Sold to us as a 1967 Mobile Scout 12ft TT, research has cleared an issue, it is actually a 1963 13ft Mobile Scout. The 6 in the serial number was recorded as a G somewhere in its 45 year life, and since it is traded with no title, only a bill of sale, this went on for a long time. The process to change the information at the motor vehicle office would be involved, and they themselves recommend not beginning the tasks, so it will remain errored.
If you have followed previous threads of mine you are aware of my updating versus restoring. The vintage appliances were removed, a 110v dorm style fridge installed, and the AC unit is a window style. The AC was to replace a tree damaged unit placed by a previous owner. The icebox was dated, leaked, and was not to our requirement.
Our interior was bare when we received this TT. The bench frames and slides were there, but, there were no cushions. Curtains were made from handkerchiefs, like the gangs and cowboys wear, no two panels the same color.
I used a 24x75 slice of plywood as a base for the seat cushions. This was covered with four inches of dense foam sized to match the plywood. The four inch dense foam was covered with one inch foam, less dense, providing an added softness. The less dense foam wrapped the sides of the dense foam. Cotton batting covered the foam before it was all covered with a durable fabric.
Not being much of a seamstress, we decided to have the back cushions professionally made, the fabric shop provides this service. We also had round bolster cushions made from the same fabric.
It is apparent the original cushions were much thinner. The new cushions, although providing a greater level of comfort, are a few inches thicker and cover the bottom portion of the side windows. The jalousy window cranks hold the cushion in place. When configured as a bed, it is 75x75, and extremely comfortable.
Curtains in a neutral color complete the interior look. The countertop beige, the tan of the seat fabric, and the sandy color of the floor covering all lent themselves to the color choice. Margo, a part-time employee from the Sewing Center, graciously created the six curtain panels with fabric we supplied.
The table was non-existant. Four inch PVC pipe and fittings provided the support leg for the plywood tabletop with laminate matching the new countertop. The same laminate was used to create a backsplash to conceal the added structure that supports the AC unit.
Our "kitchen" was removed. We kept the sink, removed the stove, and replaced the icebox with a fridge. This added more than two feet of available counter space. Changes in cabinet configurations also netted more storage space, using baskets, removing drawers.
Laminate, like Formica, covered the tabletop and backsplash, as well as recovering the countertop. Brushed aluminum edging from Jones Metal Molding provides a finished look for the counter and table edge.

Kathy, Frank, I salute you! A great job of recycling. You can be sure that you will have a pride of ownership that folks that buy new will never understand. Again, great job!

looks good, nice work bringing it back.working with dmv can be a hassle I painted my rv and changed the color when it came time to renew I changed the color on the reg,I had to send in for a new title to change the color over and they sent me a new one back and never changed the color on it go figure,so I'm just leaving it like it is.if they cant get it right its there problem.

Very nice job on everything. I really like the dinette covering. Money well spent. (My seat backs are a bit taller too, makes a better bed also.)

It's going to be a cute little pup, and I'm betting that you won't ever have to initiate conversations with your neighbors when you arrive at a campground, they'll come to you, with non-stop questions! (We became accustomed to that during the years we had a 3326 Trailmanor. EVERYONE wanted to see it being erected and folded down!) Congratulations on your labors. The result is going to be worth it. We hope ya'll get to use it soon!
P.S. I think Mich 60's tow vehicle may be dangerously low on capacity to pull his 1964 Ander-ette 16' TT!

You gotta jump on those good deals when they come around! We were supposed to get a new trailer this summer but work has made different plains for my future.
Now if I could only add a 30' slideout to my trailer... Mich60
