I have seen a few references recently to running the installed generator in a B while driving, so that the camper air conditioner can be on. How many of you do that? Is it OK? Why, why not? I travel with a dog who gets pretty hot, when she is made to stay back on the couch/bed, which is where I would rather her be. Also, when other people are riding with me, it gets hot way back there for passengers. I did a search on here, but only found people who were running theirs in 5'ers to cool down the camper before stopping. Any advice?
Thanks,
Dixie

I run mine if it is hot. People do it all the time. No problem.

On my very first outing, I waited in a long line of vehicles until the camper up front had finally exploded all his propane tanks. Really big booms! His A/C had caught fire and there she blew.
I was impressed enough to now always have my propane off while in motion.
So, while others never have a problem, that guy did.

I understand the confusion - my bad.
Right! My first sentence was if the gen was running on propane, etc.
Obviously, my first sentence is missing.

The OP has a Sprinter B, which perforce has an LP generator.

I only need a generator for my microwave and my wife's hair dryer. Some other owners of Westfalia Sprinters (imported by Airstream for 2005 only) have removed their generators altogether.
Our coach AC system is a native 12V system. It's completely serviceable too unlike most RV ACs which are not. We have a 200 amp alternator that supplies the juice while motoring down the road.

We do run ours on occasion if it's really hot and sunny. I drive with my rear door and rear side curtains down, it makes a huge difference when driving in the sun.

My spouse likes to run the gene and the coach AC while we're in motion. Personally I don't think it's necessary, I'm comfortable with just the cab AC. But he likes it colder, so I just put on a sweater.
