I bought it because the price was right. I wanted a Honda but could not justify the money for it. I can put this under the back end of my truck & that should make it a little quieter. I am going to use this is when I go boondocking at the race tracks.

I have a Champion also plus I use a 24' extension cord and put it as far as it will go away way from us and everyone else. The other guys didn't mind it at all compared to the construction ones they have mounted behind there cabs. They really make noise. I wish I had a couple of Hondas but I spend my money at the gas pump.

Here's another option if you're looking for quiet power that won't break the bank.
3000 watt Chinese genny:

Maybe not as reliable as the Japanese models, but certainly a bargain at less than half the cost for equivalent power and noise control!

It is my choice to not spend $2000+ on a piece of equipment that I don't use very much, but don't want to be without generator power. If I had more money I would consider using one of the Honda's or Yamaha's products. I just think that my camper or camping is a better place to put my money. I, however, am considerate of my neighbors and don't run my Champion unless it is necessary. In a campground with full hookup, I use it only if the campground looses power and then only when necessary. I also put a piece of carpet around the generator leaving the ends open. This brings the noise down to about 58db. I strongly resist other people telling me what I can do when what I do is legal.
As I said earlier, the OP made a good choice for him as all of us have.

10 dB = ten times as loud.
3 dB = twice as loud.
1 dB = minimum detectable (by human ear) difference in volume.

Just get a little longer extention cord and put the genny on the other side of your neighbor's camper and you probably won't even hear it at all. You can sleep like a baby all night.

I hardly ever need a generator but after years of being on the receiving end I would never inflict a loud generator on my camping neighbors.
My total cost for two Honda EU2000i generators and home made 30 amp parallel kit was $1,060. I wasn't in a hurry and craigslist is my friend.
As an added bonus, I haven't thrown my back out trying to lift a 100 pound or more generator.

Mine is a 3500W Honda that I purchased in 1989; the one with the wheels. It still looks and runs as good as new; starts on the first pull. I think it's 28 amps but it runs the ac and anything else I want to run. BUT!!! It is loud; I'd say >70 db, but can barely be heard inside the TT. I've tried new mufflers but it makes no difference. Don't worry, I'll never camp beside you, because when I camp, I CAMP! I look for forest roads that will take me to out of the way places and if someone is there, I'll look elsewhere. If I have a neighbor, I'm not camping.

Not exactly...
A 3db increase is a doubling of sound pressure (energy); however, it takes a 10db increase in sound pressure to be perceived by the average human ear as a doubling of the sound level. In generator terms, that means one running at 68db will sound approximately twice as loud as one running at 58db.

What is the quietest generator available?
We have a 21 foot Sunline tt (86)
I had a new roof air installed last summer (Carrier), not sure about the size.
I would like a gen that could run that and extremely quiet.
Thanks!
