I recently got a great book about Yukon and I have a question about the highway from Whitehorse to Dawson City on Hwy 2. I'll be driving 40 foot diesel motor home pulling a Honda CRV. Would I have any problems going on that road? It looks as though there are lots of interesting places to see on that road. I will come back on the ALCAN when I get ready to come home. Thanks for any assistance. Bob W.

Paved two lane highway from Whitehorse to Dawson City. Multiple tour buses on it every day during the tourist season. From Whitehorse to Carmacks the highway handled extra long ore trucks when the mine in Faro was open.

You're more likely to have issues from Dawson City to Tok, on the "Top of the World" highway, where the conditions can vary depending on the season and weather. Still nothing many other folk haven't done ... just take your time and mind the soft shoulders.

I took a rental minivan from Whitehorse to Tok thru Dawson. No problem on the Canadian side, but it'll be along time before I visit that part of AK. The soft shoulders don't give you a lot of room when you meet a 5 ton DOT truck & you're on the outer side of the road.

LOL - try meeting a B-train fuel tanker there when you're driving a 42-foot MCI
