Our carpet is discolored where the slide room sits on it when closed - the carpet is dark.

I saw some plastic strips for sale at an RV dealer. They are about 6 inches wide and about three feet long. The idea is to put them down on the carpet when you pull in your slide, and that they reduce damage to the carpet.

Do these plastic strips work? Anybody have any advice about how to limit damage to carpet caused by a slide room?

Why would the plastic strips not work? If you have strips on the carpet where the room slides on it, then you lay down the plastic strips on the carpet where the room rubs the carpet, and the wear and dirt is now on those plastic strips and not the carpet. MAGIC!

Now if the entire carpet area where the room sits on the carpet is dirty, then those strips will not work, and no magic will help.

are your rollers dirty. Is it possible some one sprayed them with a lube of some kind this is what is making the carpet dirty. Have a good look and see if they can be cleaned.

I recently found at Home d'po a vinyl runner, clear, that has nibs for grabbing the carpet. At $9 each, you might consider same. I install mine the minute I return from an outing, (after the mandatory vacuuming) and leave it in till we're ready to leave next trip.

Yes the Slide Slickers work great, I have a set I have used on a Rockwood ROO & on my 5th wheel I now have. Most RV dealers sell them.

The dark stripes caused by the slideout on my carpet have always cleaned up easily with carpet spot remover.

Now if I could just fix the light spots on the carpet where I have dripped bleach putting it in the washing machine.
