Hi,

We are planning a pre-winter trip in our TT this October to Branson for about a week. Never been there before and were wondering which rv park would be the best. We would like to have full hook ups, and would like to be in town or close to town, as have heard trffic can be a mess. Also, didn't know how soon we need to book a reservation, or if the parks get filled in the fall.

Thanks,

Cindy

ABC is one of the better campgrounds. They should not be full. But best to make sure that no rallies going on at the time you want to be there. We made reservations for shows at the campground office.

We statued at Table Rock State Park in June. We liked it there.

It was far enough away from downtown you still felt like you were not in a big town, but close enough to go downtown if you wanted to goto the shows etc.

Some of the Army Corp campgrounds were closed earlier this year because of flooding. Not sure if they have since opened, so your choices may be somewhat limited.

It really depends on how close to the strip "HWY 76" you want to be and what you plan on doing/seeing during the stay. I can honestly say we have stayed at several during the past 6 years and can't think of a bad experience.

A couple of months ago some campgrounds right on the Lake were closed due to lake levels being very high- I'm sure that is no longer an issue- but something to consider.

"IF" you want to be close to the strip you may look at The Music Land campground. It is just off the strip , however very secluded with lots of trees. This was actually the very first campground we stayed at whne we started RVing some 6 years ago (stayed there twice since)

The ABC campground is also very nice, just not near the strip, again, if that matters.

Branson Shenanigan R.V Park is also pretty nice.

The Wilderness campground is close to Silver Dollar City, not close to the main strip or shows (4-5 miles from the main strip I'm guessing) very wooded sites. We have stayed there a couple of times when we wanted to enjoy the camping experience more than going to the Branson shows or hanging out on the strip.

Cooper Creek is off the beaten path, but nice for trout fishing.

Good luck.......

The later in October you go the more leaf color and usually great weather. Traffic is not a big issue. Learn the alternate routes and stay off 76 highway as much as possible. Campgrounds are usually not real full in the fall. Some of our favorites things to do are: Ice Cream @ the Hard luck Diner; Sunday brunch at Big Cedar lodge; hike @ Dogwood Canyon and take in a couple of shows.

If you want an RV park with a campground feel (ie. shade trees, campfire rings, picnic shelter/table), then I would highly recommend Compton Ridge Campground. It is located near Silver Dollar City (they run a shuttle to SDC also) and not "in town" but close enough for it to not be a problem. We've been staying there for ten years and have never had a bad experience.

While many folks here recommend ABC, I found it to be very spartan - an RV parking lot to be exact - and that may be what you are looking for. Sites are close together, very little shade, and they do not allow campfires.

Branson is so much fun! You will love visiting there. When we go to Branson - we prefer to stay in Branson at ABC Campground. That way you are not spending all of your time driving to and from Branson. Everytime we go the traffic is terrible getting in and out of town! The shows are great and you will have a great time.

We have stayed at several campgrounds in Branson. I agree with the comments about ABC. They are very friendly but it is very close quarters. This last summer we went to Tall Pines Campground (Near Compton Ridge). It is a bit out of town, but you have access to two alternate routes for getting around Branson in less traffic. Lots of tall trees and really nice sites. Also close to Branson West if you need to make a Walmart/Walgreens run.

I agree, if you want the very best in rv parking, ABC, which we use exclusively, is no 1 and has been for years in Branson.

However, you really need to explain what you are looking for , in order to get reviews on what would suit you best. ABC is NOT a campground.
