After owning three fully self-contained rigs going from a truck camper to a 23' fifth wheel to a 30' fifth wheel with a slide, I went back to basics in buying my Traverse. I am loving how simple this rig is and how well designed it is. No dumping issues (I can dump the little gray water I use in my pasture when I return home, have propane only to run the cooktop and furnace, and a simple porta potti (which I think I'm going to replace with the more compact PETT toilet).
I've come to really dislike the big fifth wheel we currently own because it's so dang big and complicated. We are restricted where we can travel but my family likes all the goodies (because I'm the one who has to take care if it all). The Traverse is my personal get away from it all rig and is ready to go at a moments notice. For 2-3 days I don't even need to add water to the tank as I can carry a 2.5 gallon container with a little spout and set it on the counter for coffee and hand washing.
When the time comes to replace this, I was thinking fancy Sprinter with the shower, toilet, generator, etc. but now I don't know. I like this little camper van! It will make dealing with the big fiver easier when we all take a trip together knowing I've got something simpler to come home to.

We came up from 30+ years of tent camping....so when designing our SMB we went very basic. No propane or water as never had them so figure we can get along without them....so far no regrets. We love our basic B or maybe we have a B-.

Fully agree with your description. We have been roaming Mexico and Central America for 6 months a year in a Traverse the last 4 years. Simplicity sums it all up. All we added were 200W of solar panels, two Hardigg boxes to the back doors for extra storage and a few mods. As a bonus, it fits in a 20' container for our next trip to South America.
Living in a "B" is a good exercice in voluntary simplicity. When we come back home, we wonder why we need so much stuff.

DD G, please tell me more about the Hardigg cases and solar panels! Which Hardigg boxes did you use and how did you mount them? I've got the a/c through the driver's side rear door but have wondered about getting a box of some sort for my Hitch Haul. I haven't because then it blocks the rear door access.
Also, how and where did you mount the solar panels? I thought one couldn't touch the fiberglass pop-top as far as mounting anything on it.
Love to know about your other mods too!!
At this stage, unless I get divorced and have to live out of a B, a Sportsmobile tailored to order could be my next one.

I'm outfitting my Sprinter as a steel tent. I spent more time maintaining my "C", than using it and rarely used 90% of the features.

This box would be ideal mounted on a hitch mounted cargo carrier...the possibilities are endless.

Just wanted to say, that I love my Pett toilet. You can use the "double doodie bags" that are sold at Wally World.
